Our chosen charity partner, Beam, is an organisation helping homeless people and refugees find their feet in society. During our partnership so far, we’ve helped to change the lives of almost 750 people, supporting 390 individuals into work and over 290 people into housing.

This month, our support has made a meaningful impact on the lives of Aryan, Alhaji, and Jasper as they move closer to living their dream life. Read their full stories below...

Ali's story

With a nursing background, Ali is determined to make a positive impact in the medical field here in the UK. Since coming to England, he's been navigating the challenges of settling into a new country and finding suitable housing as he's still in temporary accommodation.

Your support helps Ali obtain the things he needs to start an ESOL course with Beam and find a job, such as a laptop, travel expenses, and work clothes. By contributing to his campaign, you're not only helping Ali achieve his goals, but also empowering him to take the next steps towards a better future.

"Thank you for your help and support."

Terry's story

Terry has been through some difficult times recently, experiencing homelessness and being the victim of an assault. Despite applying regularly for customer service roles, he's encountered difficulties in securing interviews or finding suitable job offers. This has been disheartening at times, but he remains hopeful and motivated to find a stable job with a permanent contract. He's open to different opportunities and eager for someone to give him a chance to showcase his skills and dedication.

Looking ahead, Terry is optimistic about his future career. He's striving to secure a stable job that aligns with his experience in customer service or hospitality. His goal is to find fulfilling work that allows him to contribute positively and build a successful career. He's also open to exploring training courses and remains committed to his job-hunting journey, eager to seize any promising opportunities that come his way.

"Any help that you can give would be so appreciated."

Stephen's story

In 2016, Stephen's life changed dramatically due to a very traumatic family situation. His daughter is now a heathy 17 year-old young adult, but in 2011, she was diagnosed with Leukemia aged 5. After two years of chemo, she was in remission. Then in 2016, when she was 10, it returned with a vengeance. They nearly lost her - watching her suffer was the worst thing he has ever had to deal with.

Since then Stephen's been through a very challenging five-year period. His physical and mental health were affected immensely. After a wonderful and successful career as a Head Chef at multiple highly-regarded establishments, he found himself unable to support himself for the first time since he left school in the 80s. His credit rating was awful and his passion for food had all but disappeared. He was lost.

Stephen has worked tirelessly for almost two years to regain his sobriety and his dignity and dare he says it, he's well and truly on the right path. He has written a children's book, due to be self-published with the investment of close friends, which he did as a change of direction. He also volunteers twice a week, one day for a wellbeing centre on their helpline, and the other at a food organisation teaching troubled adults to cook, in the hope of future employment.

Stephen is now in a situation where he is ready to grow and be completely independent, but is unable to afford to apply for rented accommodation. He will be living alone, but he would like a place where his two children can come and stay sometimes. They are very important to him and to his journey going forward.

Beam have been amazing to him so far and he is so thankful for their support. This could be life-changing and help him get to where he needs to be, a happy and healthy Dad. Stephen is not sure how to describe his feelings about launching his Beam campaign page. Partly excited, partly grateful of the platform, and perhaps a bit nervous. He thinks humbled is the right word.

Moving in to a new property - now that is where the excitement comes in. Stephen is over the moon for the opportunity to get started on the next steps. This is a major milestone for him. Everything begins from that moment.

"My aim is to one day become a successful children's author, so I can fund and continue my charity work."
