How do you spot imbalances in your product and design teams? Product and Ecommerce Leader, Brian Flanagan, shares his thoughts in this short video clip.

You generally see the most frustration within the team. You have somebody who just can't get stuff done or is overwhelmed on one side, and then you’ll talk to two different people within different parts of the organisation, and they have a very different experience of what’s going on.

In a case where there are too many product managers and not enough designers, for example, you’ll see the product manager saying, "I’m really frustrated, we can’t get anything done. It’s just so painful. We feel like we’re constantly pushing to try and get stuff done, but nothing is getting done." 

Then you sit down with the designers, and they’re saying, "Oh my God, I’m overwhelmed. I can’t think straight or even focus on what I’m doing. It’s just coming at me fast and furious." 

That’s a pretty good indicator of when you’ve got very different experiences happening within different core functions of the organisation.
