There's a real art to speaking the language of the buyer, not the seller. Usually, there are a couple of steps to that. It's ensuring that you know what's important to that stakeholder, so that you can articulate your goals in terms that sound more appealing to them. 

And then there's also ensuring that you're choosing the right metrics. I am a big fan of lifetime value, but there can be situations where that isn't the best thing to talk about, where you want to talk about something a little bit more tangible like revenue, the number of orders, or the number of customers that you're engaging.
