The best advice I was given in my career was, be prepared to stay forever and be ready to leave tomorrow. And I think in the context of the business world that we live and work in today all of us have had those moments where things haven't quite gone as planned.
You want to be able to give everything you can to your current role and you're passionate about the business that you work for.
Think about you as an individual, who are you, what's your identity? What's your unique value, your unique skills? So that when you want to change or if you have to change, you're really clear on the value that you bring.
Alison Orsi is an accomplished marketing leader, having grown her career at IBM progressing from Marketing Manager through to General Manager in 25 years. Now, Alison is a Board Trustee at AbilityNet and Non-Executive Director at The Marketing Society. She is also focussing on her passion of coaching others through their careers.
