DTC Fractional CMO and Growth Consultant, Mehul Garg, revealed some of the hottest digital marketing jobs in the direct-to-consumer industry. This interview took place on 13th November 2024, at our event entitled 'Unlocking marketing success in DTC brands'.
Mehul Garg is a leader in digital marketing and ecommerce. With over 15 years in the industry, he works closely with scaling direct-to-consumer brands as a Fractional Chief Marketing Officer and Growth Advisor. In his career, he has supported brands such as Sneak Energy, Photobox and CleanCo to help them unlock growth and scale globally.
So, I think we already know that the title 'Creative Strategist' - some people also call it 'Full-Stack Content Creator' - is already on fire, and that's only going to continue to increase. Creative Strategist is a role that's just recently come about in the last six to eight months. I've already recruited two - one of them is through you guys - so that's really taking off.
The reason for that is because of the algorithm and AI. Now, media does not bring much value - 60-70% of the value, at least in performance marketing on paid social, comes from creative. And Creative Strategist is one of the key roles driving that value.
The other two roles that come to mind are linked to how the D2C model has evolved. The first is 'Amazon Brand Manager'. Many physical product brands are now distributing on Amazon, so Amazon Brand Manager has become a key part of the D2C playbook. The second is linked to TikTok Shop, and that’s the role of 'Community Executive' and 'Affiliate Manager'.
So, I see these three roles - Creative Strategist, Amazon Brand Manager, and Community Executive/Affiliate Manager for TikTok Shop - being crucial for 2025.
