Well, I really believe that marketers should strike the right balance between specialisation and breath of experience. I'm a strong advocate for developing a good specialisation, but also developing your kind of awareness of other marketing disciplines.
I certainly advocate that within my team and making sure that while they might be a specialist in a particular, technical field, they have a good understanding in other areas because that will help them grow and take on a bigger job.
If you really aspire to a top job in marketing, I think developing good financial awareness is really really important. So, you know, learn to understand your finance metrics, your data and and to speak the language of the CFO.
