So, a key challenge that we often hear from Heads of Marketing in scale-up businesses is that they struggle to justify to the Founders or CEOs why they need to build their team and why they need to build it at a certain level and caliber.
A top tip from us would be to treat it like a commercial plan. You need to have a commercial justification of the ROI that marketing is having on the business and, importantly, the impact that the person you are going to hire will have. If you do that, it will help you secure more budget and, hopefully, bring in a slightly more senior or higher-caliber person into your team.
