3Search works closely with the Private Equity firm Livingbridge, who are Visualsoft's principal investor. They recommended that Visualsoft partner with 3Search for specialist marketing recruitment support when they were looking to hire a VP of Marketing.
Analysing the market to locate the best talent
The business was looking to employ a VP of Marketing whose primary objective was to build and scale a team of digital and demand generation focussed marketeers. The marketing team would work hand-in-glove with the sales and technology teams to unite the business in a single customer view and continue to accelerate business growth.
During their 20 years of trading, Visualsoft had always operated marketing from their HQ in Stockton-on-Tees. As a result, the first part of the project was to analyse the local market and compare it with the London ecosystem, which is typically a stronghold for SaaS talent. Executive Search Partner, Rowan Fisk, conducted robust market analysis for Visualsoft and with this information they agreed to recruit the role with a London base, but with regional travel fortnightly.
Finding the right VP of Marketing to support business growth
Having agreed on the parameters of the position, Rowan then mapped the SaaS scale-up market in London and the surrounding areas, identifying over 250 candidates to approach. Over a 4-week process, he longlisted 27 interested and relevant parties, ultimately shortlisting 6 candidates for the interview.
Lenny Nash, Visualsoft's CEO, was really happy with the due diligence and calibre of each candidate. He didn’t doubt that any of the candidates recommended at shortlist would be a great fit for the role, but ultimately Visualsoft whittled down to a preferred hire, who joined the company in February 2023.
Rowan is a first-class recruiter, deeply networked in the senior marketing community, who we wouldn’t hesitate to use again if the need arose. He was great fun to work with, positively challenged our brief, and always delivered great work on time. We were really happy with the shortlist and could have hired any one of the candidates he recommended.
