Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pursuit Manager for a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) to lead the strategic development, management, and execution of high-value pursuits and proposals. As a Pursuit Manager, you will collaborate with key stakeholders across the business, including partners, business development teams, subject matter experts, and marketing teams, to ensure a compelling and client-focused approach that differentiates the firm in highly competitive markets. The role will be critical to driving business growth by securing new clients and expanding engagements with existing clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Pursuit Management:
Lead the end-to-end pursuit process, from qualification to submission, ensuring a high level of strategic alignment and project management. Manage timelines, resources, and cross-functional teams to develop winning proposals.
- Strategy Development:
Work closely with partners and business development teams to develop tailored win strategies for individual pursuits, ensuring proposals clearly align with the client's needs and the firm's unique value proposition.
- Proposal Creation & Content Development:
Oversee the creation of high-quality, client-centric proposals, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail. Guide the development of bespoke content, including executive summaries, technical responses, and presentations.
- Stakeholder Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for pursuit activities, collaborating with internal teams, subject matter experts, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and communication throughout the pursuit lifecycle.
- Competitive Intelligence:
Conduct competitive analysis and market research to inform pursuit strategies and proposals. Provide insights into competitor positioning, client challenges, and industry trends.
- Process Optimization:
Continuously review and improve the pursuit process, leveraging best practices and lessons learned to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness.
- Client Relationship Development:
Support business development efforts by cultivating relationships with potential and existing clients. Participate in pre-pitch client meetings and presentations to help position the firm favourably.
- Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate risks related to the pursuit process, ensuring compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a pursuit, proposal management, or business development role, ideally within a professional services, management consulting, or related industry.
- Proven track record in managing large, complex bids or proposals for global clients.
- Project Management:
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and presentations tailored to different audiences.
- Stakeholder Management:
Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership and cross-functional teams. Experience in navigating complex internal structures and building consensus across different business lines.
- Attention to Detail:
Keen eye for detail and accuracy, ensuring all materials are of the highest quality and adhere to branding, messaging, and compliance standards.
- Analytical and Strategic Thinking:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate client needs and market trends into competitive strategies.
- Tech-Savvy:
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and proposal management software/tools. Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) is an advantage.
