Lead 3D Artist
UK Remote, (London-based Office)
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 p/a
We are seeking a talented Lead 3D Artist to join our team on a hybrid basis, with a focus on delivering high-quality 3D assets for both pre-rendered and runtime applications. If you have a passion for design, technical expertise, and an eye for detail, this could be the perfect role for you.
Job Description:
As a Lead 3D Artist, you will:
- Collaborate with core team members to develop the overall project vision and assess technical feasibility.
- Identify and analyse risks, providing solutions for complex, escalated issues.
- Approve technical specifications and ensure the delivery of high-quality 3D assets.
- Optimise 3D models for runtime applications.
- Set up and maintain frameworks that support creative freedom while meeting quality and performance standards set by the engineering team.
- Meet regularly with the Department Head, Art Director, and Game Designers to share updates, enforce standards, set benchmarks, and provide feedback.
- Represent the art team in technical discussions and client-facing meetings.
- Write documentation, tutorials, and provide training to the Art, Design, and Engineering departments.
- Texture 3D assets for both pre-rendered and runtime applications.
What You’ll Need:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Art, Design, or a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent training.
- 6+ years of experience as a 3D Artist, with experience in a Lead role, particularly in the Experiential or Video Game industry.
- Advanced hands-on experience with Unreal Engine and/or Unity.
- Expertise in Maya, Photoshop, and Substance Designer.
- Familiarity with version control software, such as Perforce or Git.
- A strong understanding of the creative and game development processes.
- High proficiency in technical problem-solving.
- A collaborative attitude, with a strong work ethic and self-motivation.
- A passion for playing and creating experiential and video games.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience creating custom shaders via shader graphs or GLSL.
