Hi, my name is Nia McClure and I am a Principal Consultant in our Executive Search team here at 3Search.  

 

3Search Executive specialises in senior appointments across marketing, digital and product, spanning C-suite, VPs, Directors, and Heads of departments. 

 

Our team works with lots of fast-growth start-ups and scale-ups who have the need to hire brilliant individuals in order to continue their growth journey. Within my role, I work with a large variety of businesses at different stages of their growth. While I work across a variety of industries, I have a pivotal focus in the Financial Services, FinTech and Technology sectors.  

 

I love my job because I enjoy talking to senior individuals who are excelling in their careers. It’s really rewarding to be able to learn from them and play even a small part in their continually succeeding careers. It’s inspiring and motivating to hear their career journeys while seeing them progress into roles they love.  

 

If you are actively looking for a new job, my main piece of advice would be to make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to date! Don’t be afraid to flaunt those successes and ensure you quantify them, too, thinking about:  

 

  • What was the timeframe you completed that great project in?  
  • How much revenue did you make in X months?  

 

Make sure that the key words you’re using in your LinkedIn profile accurately reflects what you’d like to do in your next job. For example, if you’d prefer a role with a strong management focus, make sure you have spoken thoroughly about your management experience across your page. This will add credibility to your profile and help build trust when employers are looking at what you’ve done. Plus, it will expose you to the right people in your network.  

 

If you’re looking to expand your teams, employers should consider how much they are incorporating diversity into their hiring processes and remember that it does require some consideration for compromise and flexibility. It is easy to think that diversity only covers ethnicity and gender, but it’s much broader than that. Other important qualities to keep in mind include education, financial background, and whether they have a child, to name but a few.  

 

An individual’s career journey and experience might not look exactly how you thought, but it is important to consider where you can be flexible to get the best person for your business.
