Hi, my name is David Bremner and I manage the Bids and Work-winning recruitment team at 3Search.

I specialise in bids and pursuits roles, recruiting into PLCs and ambitious medium-sized companies & start-ups in the professional services industry.

I love what I do because of the candidates I work with. We work with a highly emotionally intelligent talent pool that strategizes and project manages business development. Their ability to create compelling content to humanise business jargon is a niche skillset that I am proud to represent. 

These candidates are responsible for some really big, highly publicised business wins. It's always exciting to support professionals that have been evolving companies you could point to on the London skyline.

Recruiting for such a niche job function with a small candidate pool, I recognised that I had the opportunity to bring together lots of people to share what they do. So, over the past few years I have hosted several webinars to bring together some industry heavy weights where they have shared best practices, insights and trends in their industries. 

These webinars have been greatly helpful to many employers and candidates alike. Not many people understand what this talented pool of candidates can do, so it’s great to be able to facilitate these conversations.

Since the pandemic, companies have been striving for a more competitive edge and so have been investing more into their work winning functions. As a result, there are more career paths available to you, including “capture” focussed positions.

There are lots of opportunities open for candidates right now.

If you’re looking to make a career move, it’s important to put some thought into the company’s culture of winning work because no one wants to work in a company where you’re just churning out bids and regularly working late.

As the profession is evolving and the job market for work winning positions have never been so good, it's important for businesses to sell themselves. We’d recommend implementing an interview process that includes a sell on the company and the team.

And if you're hiring, remember that salaries have inflated as more companies have a bigger appetite for bids roles. It is a very small candidate pool, so your competition is tougher than most other areas of recruitment.
